Boca Raton, United States | Posted on 06/14/2023 Consulting Commodity Trading Overview The Risk Management Advisor position is a strategic role focused on developing, selling, and refining our crop marketing program and related service offerings. This position is also part of a development program that will allow top performing individuals to graduate into advisory, merchandising, risk management and other key roles within Roach Ag.Marketing, Ltd. A crop marketing background with an advanced grasp of grain marketing, and/or markets is a must. Responsibilities Passionate about agriculture and farming, desire to put the farmer first – farming background preferred. Ability to complete required certifications in Ethics, Cybersecurity and Anti-Money Laundering upon hire. Expertise with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ability to learn new software quickly. Excellent communication skills in all formats. Attention to detail, organized, extremely customer service oriented. Thrives working in a fast-paced environment. Highly independent, goal oriented, creative. Collaborate with Sales Development Representatives, Account Managers, Account Executives, and Commercial Managers daily at an account level to provide the best farmer experience and generate referrals. Place outbound calls to farmers to generate leads, prioritize and manage your sales pipeline, and close sales. Travel to the farms on an as-needed basis from time to time. Become an internal expert on our market-leading and innovative system for farmers. Solicit and develop new business (phone, meetings, and one on one on the farm). Provide market outlook analysis and price risk assessment to customers. Maintain existing accounts. Execute futures and options trades as a price risk tool or for speculative purposes. Maintain daily, monthly, and annual customer records. Conduct seminars, radio, print media and TV appearances. Agricultural acumen desired but not required; this is an ideal opportunity for candidates who desire a career in agriculture but do not wish to be on the farm. Successful candidates will have an entrepreneurial spirit and desire to work in an environment where they are responsible for setting and attaining their own goals. Qualifications Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a grain marketing role such as grain trading, merchandising, origination, or brokerage. Possess or ability to obtain the Series 3 licensure (the National Commodities Futures Examination administered by FINRA). Fluency in futures, options, hedging, and risk management concepts and offerings. Graduate with an Agribusiness, Sales, Finance, Marketing, Business, or Economics-related bachelor’s degree. Proven ability to excel in a self-guided work environment. Passionate about agriculture and farming; a desire to put the farmer first. Comfortable using and explaining technology products/services. A willingness to work in a fast-paced, competitive environment where sales achievement will be directly rewarded. Willingness to travel 10% or more of the time. Must enjoy working in an office environment, spending hours on the phone learning the market while teaching the company strategy to U.S. farmers. Must be internally motivated and able to work independently. Work experience involving customer relations is a plus, but not required. Benefits 401k Retirement Plan Employees become eligible to participate in the 401k plan after twelve months of continuous service with Roach Ag Marketing; enrollment is on the next January 1 or July 1 after an employee becomes eligible. As of 2017, an employee may contribute up to $18,000 of their payroll into their own 401k. If 50 and older, catch-up contributions are an additional $6,000 for a total of $24,000 a year. Roach Ag Marketing will contribute 3% of the employee’s salary as an annual safe harbor contribution. Health and Dental Benefits Employees become eligible to participate in the group healthcare benefit plan the 1st of each month following 30 days of service. We provide a group health, dental and vision plan to all employees with provisions to add dependents at a very affordable rate. Short-Term Disability Insurance STD is furnished by Roach Ag Marketing at no cost to each employee, subject to the restrictions of the plan. STD is paid at 60% of salary by Northwestern Mutual and 10% of salary by the company for a total of 70% coverage for the first 89 days of missed work. The 60% Northwestern Mutual benefit is limited to $2,500 per week. If an employee is off work more than 89 days, provisions in the Long-Term Disability apply as defined by Northwestern Mutual Life insurance plans. Employees are eligible on the 1st of the month following 60 days of service. For STD and LTD coverage, the benefit paid to commission-based advisors will be reduced by 50% of the amount of their commission payout. For example, if you generate a $5,000 payout from trading/consulting, your STD/LTD benefit will be reduced by $2,500. All STD and LTD benefit payments have FICA taxes withheld. Long-Term Disability Insurance LTD is furnished by Roach Ag Marketing at no cost to the employee, subject to insurance plan rules and guidelines with Northwestern Mutual. Pay is set at 60% of average historical pay up to $10,000 per month. An employee is eligible on the 1st of the month after 60 days of service. Continuing Education RAM encourages a lifelong commitment to learning and will assist in the cost of company-approved education and training up to $2,500 per year. Class work must tie to company business and the industry. Receipts for tuition must be provided for reimbursement. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required. Paid Holidays Dr. Martin Luther King Day 4th of July Christmas Day PTO Policy Effective January 1, 2020, the following PTO policy will replace Roach Ag’s “Vacation/Sick Time” policy. PTO is defined as non-holiday working time for events including, but not limited to, vacations, family reunions, funerals, out-of-town weddings, illnesses (sick leave), care for an ill dependent and any other personal time. Only full‑time, salaried employees who have been employed by Roach Ag for at least three months of continuous employment and are in good standing are eligible for PTO. Full‑time salaried employees may begin to use their accrued hours after three months of employment. Only one week can be used after the three‑month period. No PTO is available prior to three months. An employee’s entitlement to PTO hours is based on tenure: 0 to 5 years = 12 hours per month or 18 days per year; 5 to 10 years = 16 hours per month or 24 days per year; 10 years and over = 20 hours per month or 30 days per year. There will be a cap on PTO accruals at 240 hours. PTO must be used in the year accrued or it will be forfeited. Unused PTO will not be paid out and will not roll over to the following year.
