Grounds Crew Member

The Grounds Crew is responsible for maintaining the property of Silver Oak Stable. The scope will include but not be limited to the turf including paddocks, landscaped areas, swales, drainage, roadways and all paths. This includes monitoring the health of all plants and greenscapes, watering and feeding plants organically, pruning trees and shrubs, mowing turf, weeding gardens and keeping green spaces and walkways free of debris and litter. The grounds crew would know how to use and maintain landscaping equipment and amendments. This individual must be neat, organized, efficient, enthusiastic, motivated and capable of tasks associated with organically maintaining the grounds of an equestrian property. This individual must be proactive and have a desire to excel at their job while also teaching subordinates. They must have excellent communication skills, be positive, friendly and enjoy working in a team environment.
Property Maintenance In appropriate season, prepares soil, seeds or plants seedlings, weeds, rolls lawn, cuts grass, weed whack and remove leaves. Use power tools to complete daily tasks such as trim hedges, cut off dead tree limbs, etc. Conducts daily patrols of property and removes trash and debris. Paddock Maintenance Mowing, weed whacking, blow debris Applying Tick control Fill in holes Roll soil, spread seed and compost Aerated Static Pile Compost Unit (coordinate with Farm Operations Manager) Maintain a schedule for processing compost, keep records of temperature, send for testing 2x per year Keep compost in the hill bin dry for bagging Bag and pallet compost according to schedule Deliver/schedule delivery of Pallets of Compost Equipment Maintenance & Safety Operate equipment safely to ensure the safety for yourself, the people and animals around you; Complete the “circle of safety” each time before driving a farm vehicle.
