Position Overview  

West Coast Trial Lawyers is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join our growing Employment Law Department. This is an excellent opportunity for a newly licensed attorney or an attorney with up to two years of litigation experience who is looking to develop a long-term career in employment law. 

The Associate Attorney will work closely with a Senior Employment Attorney, assisting with all phases of employment litigation, including wage and hour disputes, wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other employment-related matters. Candidates with prior experience in employment law, workers' compensation, personal injury, or other civil litigation practice areas are encouraged to apply. 

This position offers hands-on litigation experience, mentorship, and the opportunity to develop professionally while working on sophisticated employment matters.

Key Responsibilities  

• Assist in handling employment litigation matters from inception through resolution.  
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, legal memoranda, and correspondence.  
• Conduct legal research and prepare written analyses of legal issues.  
• Assist with wage and hour litigation and other employment-related matters.  
• Prepare for hearings, mediations, arbitrations, depositions, and trial.  
• Attend court appearances, depositions, mediations, and client meetings alongside senior attorneys.  
• Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and the court.  
• Assist in developing litigation strategy under the supervision of senior attorneys.  
• Maintain organized case files and ensure compliance with court deadlines.  
• Collaborate with attorneys and legal support staff to efficiently manage case progression.  

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.  
• Active membership in the California State Bar, or recently passed the California Bar Examination with admission pending  
• 1-2 years of litigation experience preferred 
• Experience in employment law, wage and hour litigation, workers' compensation, personal injury, or other civil litigation is highly preferred 
• Experience with wage and hour matters is a plus but not required 
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills 
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities  
• Strong written and verbal communication skills  
• Eagerness to learn and develop under the mentorship of an experienced Senior Employment Attorney 
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced litigation environment.  
• Professional, dependable, and detail-oriented 
• Ability to commute daily to our Downtown Los Angeles office 

Salary Range: $100,000-$120,000 annually + commission & bonus
