About This Role
CAVE SPRING UNITED METHODIST CHURCH Weekday Preschool seeks caring, kind, loving individuals to join our staff. Must have a heart for caring for children! Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be 18 years old or older and have experience caring for young children.
Substitute positions may include any of the following shifts: 7:30 AM - 1:30 PM; 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM; 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; 12:30 PM - 5:30 PM; 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM
Positions are as needed, August 13, 2026, through May 27, 2027 . We follow Roanoke County Public Schools' calendar for start and end dates, holidays, teacher workdays, closings, and delays. We do not participate in the scheduled three-hour early dismissals.
What You'll Do- Follow the provided substitute lesson plans.
- Set up classroom materials or equipment.
- Provide for children's basic needs.
- Enforce rules or policies.
- Read to students.
- Monitor student behavior.
- Discuss problems or issues with supervisors.
- Must be 18 years old
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Childcare experience
- Must be able to pass FBI fingerprint and CPS background checks
- Have the ability to remain responsible at all times for the supervision of children
- Work cooperatively with a team
- Model Christian character
- CPR certification
- Early childhood education
