Technical Design Associate (Apparel)

Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for an Apparel Design Associate for a growing children's apparel brand. This is a full-time onsite opportunity based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, supporting a collaborative design team responsible for developing seasonal children's apparel collections.


POSITION OVERVIEW:


The Apparel Design Associate will serve as a key partner to the Lead Designer, supporting the development, technical execution, and production of seasonal children's apparel collections. This role combines apparel CAD development, technical design, product development coordination, and factory communication to ensure products move successfully from concept through production. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a hands-on, detail-oriented environment and thrives managing multiple projects within a small, collaborative team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Create and update apparel CADs (Adobe Illustrator), technical drawings, colorways, and seasonal product revisions based on established designs and artwork
• Maintain product specifications, technical documentation, product tracking tools, and detailed Excel spreadsheets across seasonal collections
• Coordinate sample development, review factory sample photos, provide feedback, and track revisions throughout the product development process
• Communicate regularly with overseas manufacturing partners regarding specifications, approvals, timelines, and production updates
• Participate in sample evaluations, garment measurements, fit reviews, and quality assessments to ensure products meet design and production standards
• Support the Lead Designer with collection management, seasonal product updates, and cross-functional coordination throughout the development cycle


QUALIFICATIONS:


• Experience in apparel design, technical design, product development, production coordination, or a related apparel field
• Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, with experience creating and updating apparel CADs and technical drawings
• Advanced Excel skills with the ability to manage large volumes of product information and development data
• Familiarity with apparel production processes, garment construction, specifications, measurements, and sample review procedures
• Experience working with overseas manufacturing partners and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment preferred


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:


This position offers an hourly rate of $31.00-$33.50, commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package and the opportunity to contribute to the development of successful children's apparel collections.
