Mammography Administration Specialist

OVERVIEW Schedules appointments for patients by telephone or in person. Schedule: 20 hours per week Shift: Mon - Thurs 3p - 6p, Friday 7a-4p Location: Janesville Hospital Pay Range: $17.57 -26.36 Essential Duties and Responsibilities Can perform all duties of a Radiology receptionist. Assists in the record keeping in accordance with MQSA Works to maintain the sharing and importing of mammography studies into PACS Schedules appointments and enters appointment date and time into computerized scheduling system. Checks exam orders in Epic. Works closely with physicians, nurses, technologists to coordinate patient exams to expedite patient care. Preforms cancels, reschedules and makes modifications to exam orders as needed Telephones patients to give them prep and lab instructions when needed Works with non-Mercy physicians to have exams performed within Mercy Health System and enters those orders Releases orders from Epic. Coordinates biopsies with interventional nurses, the modality involved and the radiologist to insure all are available. Notifies hospital registration dept., radiology front office, pre-cert dept. and modality of all add on exams to insure that the exam is preauthorized and performed expediently. Uses read back method when taking orders and scheduling exams. Greets and directs patients, salespeople, and visitors. Can manage up to 3 software applications simultaneously. Assists with other medical office needs. Gathers together weekly and monthly stats. Orders, receives and maintains office supplies. Utilizes appropriate scripting and patient identifiers. Works on committees and projects as assigned and completes them in the needed time frame. Assists manager or director with projects, spreadsheets, etc. Performs patient registration for imaging patients. Insures that all office equipment is maintained and functioning properly. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent preferred Medical terminology recommended History of three years of reception recommended Skills and Abilities Possesses professional and interpersonal communication skills and uses constructive, respectful tones and modes of communication, regardless of the situation. Has the ability and willingness to coach, teach and mentor staff, clinically and professionally. Exhibits verbal and non-verbal support of administrative and departmental quality, customer relations, clinical policies and improvement initiatives and expectations.
