Senior Underwriter, Major Accounts Property - Shared and Layered

Responsibilities Makes independent sales calls to market and cross market. Reviews and negotiates policy terms and conditions including manuscript wording. Underwrites targeted new and renewal business by reviewing and analyzing insured's (or prospective insured's) loss history, financials, and other pertinent information. Makes independent marketing calls to brokers and prospective insureds. Contributes to the development of marketing plans, product analysis, services, geographic focus and broker intelligence. Communicates with other product line underwriters and claims analysts to provide top level customer service. Assists other members of the department, including Underwriters and Associate Underwriters, in product line and/or technical knowledge and development. Performs related duties as requested, including report preparation, presentations, and special projects to assist in ensuring the success of the product line unit. Qualifications Degree in Business or equivalent typically required. Minimum of 3 years, typically 5 or more years, of progressive underwriting experience and/or other related experience. CPCU or professional insurance designation preferred. Proven analytical ability to evaluate and judge underwriting risks within scope of responsibility that includes competence with all phases and aspects of the underwriting process, and proficiency in the use of qualitative and quantitative tools and techniques. Must demonstrate comprehension of complex technical underwriting issues and be capable of defining and implementing necessary underwriting and administrative processes/workflows to properly manage or administer those issues.
