Registered Nurse - MedSurg (RN)

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.

Essential Duties

• Education:
  
  
  • Participates in identifying and addressing personal learning needs.
  • Attends educational programs relevant to identified learning needs.
  • Utilizes patient education materials appropriate to the patient population.
  • Assesses the readiness to learn of patients, families, and caregivers.
  • Evaluates the developmental level of patients and factors affecting their ability to learn.
• Evaluation of Care:
  
  
  • Identifies expected patient outcomes.
  • Seeks guidance as needed to revise the plan of care.
  • Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to evaluate patient care.
  • Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care.

  • Demonstrates competence in caring for patients with complex issues.
  • Performs bedside point of care testing as required.
  • Utilizes nursing standards, policies, and procedures in care delivery.
  • Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient and family needs.
  • Consults appropriate resources for patients with complex care issues.

  • Achieves or renegotiates goals and objectives within set timeframes.

  • Collaborates with patients and families to prepare or update care plans.
  • Utilizes multidisciplinary resources in planning care.

  • Reads relevant journals to enhance clinical practice.
  • Brings ideas and questions to staff discussions for assessment of applicability.

Required Skills & Experience

• One (1) year of nursing experience.

Education

• Required: Nursing Diploma or ADN/ASN from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Preferred: BSN or MSN from an accredited School of Nursing.

Certifications & Licensure

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification (AHA or ARC).

Schedule Notes

This position is part of a Staffing Response Team with a minimum requirement of 2+ years of MedSurg experience.

Shift Details

Evening shift from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
