Senior Cyber Defense Infrastructure Engineer (Security Tooling Operations)

We are seeking a Senior Cyber Defense Infrastructure Engineer to ensure the reliable operation, performance, and lifecycle management of enterprise information security tooling. This role is critical to maintaining the availability and effectiveness of the platforms that protect the organization’s systems, data, and users.Security tooling is only effective when it is operationally sound. In this role, you will directly enable the organization’s cyber defense capabilities by ensuring critical security platforms are resilient, scalable, and reliable—supporting everything from threat detection to incident response.You will serve as the operational owner for core security platforms, working closely with Security Architecture, Security Operations, Cloud Engineering, and IT teams to ensure tools are properly deployed, integrated, maintained, and ready to support detection and response activities at scale.In this role, you will be responsible for....The implementation, configuration, and operational readiness of security tooling after tool selection has been approved. Tool strategy, vendor selection, and control design are owned by Security Architecture and leadership functions.Security Tool Deployment & Operationalization:Lead the post‑selection deployment, configuration, and operationalization of enterprise security tools in alignment with approved architectures and standardsImplement baseline configurations, integrations, and scaling required to bring new security platforms into production‑ready operational statePartner with Security Architecture and platform teams to operationalize approved tool designs, ensuring reliability, availability, and supportabilityDevelop monitoring, runbooks, and operational processes to support secure and reliable ongoing operations following rolloutPlatform Management & Engineering:Configure, maintain, patch, and upgrade security tools in alignment with architectural standardsManage security tool lifecycles, including scaling, optimization, and decommissioningImplement and maintain integrations with cloud platforms, identity systems, logging pipelines, and operational toolsOperational Excellence & Governance:Develop and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and support proceduresPartner with incident response teams to ensure tools are fully operational during security eventsSupport audits and assessments by demonstrating tooling configuration, availability, and operational controlsCollaboration & Continuous Improvement:Work closely with Security Architecture to operationalize new tooling and designsCollaborate with Security Operations teams to support detection and response capabilitiesIdentify opportunities to improve tooling reliability, automation, and operational efficiencyWhat you will need to succeed...5+ years of experience supporting or engineering enterprise security platformsHands‑on experience with one or more of the following:Endpoint protection / EDR toolsSIEM or security analytics platformsVulnerability management solutionsCloud or infrastructure security toolingStrong understanding of:Linux and/or Windows systemsCloud environments (AWS, Azure, or hybrid)System integrations, logging, and telemetry pipelinesExperience working within change, incident, and problem management processesIt would be a plus if you had this experience...Experience in large‑scale or regulated enterprise environmentsFamiliarity with security frameworks such as NIST CSF, CIS ControlsExperience supporting SOC or incident response teamsRelevant certifications (preferred but not required), such as cloud or security certificationsWhat you can expect from us:• Base annual salary target: $120000 - $150000 (yes, we do have flexibility if needed)• Opportunity for annual cash bonus• Health / Dental / Vision Benefits Day-One• 5% matching 401k• Additional benefits including but not limited to financial support, pet insurance, mental health resources, volunteer paid days off, employee stock program, foundation donation matching, and much more!Why IDEXX?We’re proud of the work we do, because our work matters.
