This position involves implementing treatment plans designed by physical therapists, monitoring patient progress, and adjusting interventions as necessary to optimize recovery outcomes. The PTA works closely with patients to improve mobility, reduce pain, and restore function through therapeutic exercises and modalities. Additionally, the role requires meticulous documentation of patient responses and communication with the healthcare team to ensure coordinated care. Minimum Qualifications: Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program. Current and valid state licensure or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the United States. Basic life support (BLS) certification. Strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic techniques. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare team members. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in outpatient, inpatient, or rehabilitation settings. Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems. Additional certifications such as CPR or specialty therapy techniques. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse patient populations including pediatric and geriatric patients. Continuing education in advanced physical therapy modalities or patient care. Responsibilities: Assist physical therapists in executing individualized treatment plans for patients with various musculoskeletal and neurological conditions. Guide patients through therapeutic exercises and use modalities such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and heat/cold therapy under supervision. Monitor and document patient progress, reporting any changes or concerns to the supervising physical therapist promptly. Educate patients and their families on exercise routines, safety precautions, and strategies to maintain functional improvements at home. Maintain a safe and clean treatment environment by adhering to infection control protocols and equipment maintenance standards. Skills: The required skills enable the Physical Therapist Assistant to competently implement treatment plans and ensure patient safety during therapy sessions. Strong communication skills are essential for educating patients and collaborating with physical therapists and other healthcare professionals.
