Overview

Northwell Health is seeking a full‑time Nocturnist for the Cardiothoracic Surgery Intensive Care Unit at Lenox Hill Hospital. The role involves providing round‑the‑clock critical care for patients undergoing cardiac and thoracic procedures, including use of advanced life support modalities such as ECMO.

Responsibilities

• Deliver continuous, high‑level critical care to cardiothoracic surgery patients.
• Manage acute cardiac and thoracic emergencies and advanced support technologies.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Participate in shift handoffs, rounds, and documentation in accordance with hospital protocols.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of best practices in cardiac critical care and participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Board‑certified in Critical Care (primary; acceptable if also certified in Internal Medicine, Anesthesia, Emergency Medicine, or General Surgery).
• Fellowship training in cardiothoracic surgery or related sub‑specialty desired.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.
• Excellent communication, clinical judgment, and ability to work independently during overnight shifts.
