Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students in a thriving educational setting. A dedicated paraprofessional is needed to assist within self-contained resource classrooms, working side-by-side with students who present a variety of special education needs. The position is full-time, with 37.5 hours per week, and runs through the end of the 2026-2027 school year.
Your role will be vital in delivering daily support, fostering independence, and ensuring a safe, encouraging learning environment. This opportunity is ideal for individuals passionate about helping children and comfortable with tasks such as assisting with toileting alongside other classroom responsibilities. A background in special education or applied behavior analysis (ABA) is a plus, though patience, empathy, and a supportive attitude are most important.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Completion of the GaPSC Paraprofessional Educator Certificate, or at minimum, either an Associate’s degree or completion of the Para GACE exam
- Experience working with children in a school setting, ideally in special education or ABA
- Demonstrated ability to support students with diverse needs and provide personal care as required
- Strong team collaboration skills and willingness to support teachers and therapists
- Genuine enthusiasm for helping children succeed
Responsibilities:
- Provide instructional and behavioral support alongside classroom teachers
- Assist students in self-contained classrooms with daily routines and activities
- Offer personal care and hygiene support as needed
- Create a nurturing and structured learning environment
- Maintain detailed records and collaborate with educational staff
