Production Lead

A growing food manufacturing operation in Chesapeake, VA is seeking experienced Production Leads to support facility growth and daily production operations. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who have manufacturing leadership experience and are looking to play a key role in building and developing a growing production team.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can effectively balance production responsibilities while motivating and developing employees on the production floor.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily production operations and workflow activities
• Assign work and provide direction to production associates
• Train, coach, and mentor new and existing employees
• Monitor production output, quality standards, and productivity metrics
• Ensure adherence to all safety policies and procedures
• Troubleshoot production issues and escalate concerns as needed
• Coordinate production schedules to meet customer demands and deadlines
• Support continuous improvement and process enhancement initiatives
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment
• Collaborate with supervisors and management to achieve operational goals

Qualifications

Required

• Minimum 2 years of manufacturing leadership experience
• Experience supervising or leading production employees
• Strong communication and leadership abilities
• Ability to train and develop team members
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• High School Diploma or GED

Preferred

• Food manufacturing experience
• GMP and/or SQF environment experience
• Lean Manufacturing knowledge
• Experience tracking production metrics and KPIs
• Forklift certification
• Packaging, assembly, or batching experience

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Chesapeake, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $26.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
