Senior R&D Software Engineer - Networked Electronic Warfare

The role reports to the Senior Director of R&D, Electronic Warfare, and leads software design and implementation for next-generation Networked Electronic Warfare (EW) systems. The position may be remote depending on location. Responsibilities Software Architecture & Development: design, develop, and optimize high-performance embedded software for networked EW applications, from low-level drivers to high-level application logic. DevOps & CI/CD: architect and maintain modern CI/CD pipelines to automate testing, integration, and deployment, ensuring high code quality and rapid iteration. System Integration: collaborate with hardware, RF, and systems engineers to integrate software with complex RF subsystems and validate performance in lab and field environments. Cross-Organizational Collaboration: coordinate API definitions, interface control documents (ICDs), and integration strategies with external partners and government stakeholders. Algorithm Implementation: translate signal processing and networking algorithms into efficient, real-time C/C++ code for resource-constrained embedded targets. Code Quality & Mentorship: lead code reviews, enforce coding standards, and mentor junior engineers in software design, testing, and documentation. Travel: occasional travel for team meetings at headquarters in Los Angeles, CA or other locations. Required Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields. Minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience with a focus on embedded systems. Technical Proficiency: Expert proficiency in C/C++ and Python Deep understanding of embedded Linux Experience with DevOps methodologies and CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes) Strong familiarity with Git, Jira, and agile development methodologies. Security Clearance: Active U.S. Government SECRET clearance or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire. Must be a U.S. Citizen due to clients under U.S. government contracts. Background check and drug test required. Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields. Domain expertise in EW, SIGINT, Radar, or Tactical Wireless Communications software. Hardware interfaces: familiarity with FPGA-based systems and RF hardware control (software-defined radios, transceivers). Security: understanding of cybersecurity principles, Information Assurance, and secure coding practices for defense systems. Communication: ability to articulate complex software concepts to multi-disciplinary teams. Working Conditions Office environment with occasional field testing exposure to heat, cold, and allergens. Physical: ability to lift up to 20 lbs; bending, reaching, kneeling; walking in labs. Compensation & Benefits Compensation: $140,000 – $200,000 per year. The pay range is not a guarantee and varies based on experience and qualifications.
