Senior Mechanical Engineer

Location: Kent, OH
Job Type: Full-Time

You’ll be part of an integrated engineering and manufacturing team supporting the design and development of specialized mechanical systems used in medical device and other industrial applications. This role combines mechanical design, engineering, fabrication, and manufacturing support to bring complex equipment from concept through completion.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing and building mechanical systems that meet customer requirements while being practical to manufacture, assemble, operate, and maintain. You’ll work closely with engineering, fabrication, assembly, vendors, and customers to turn concepts into reliable, functional equipment.

• Develop project objectives, goals, and design milestones
• Develop mechanical designs that meet customer requirements, from concept through completion of construction
• Prepare detailed mechanical engineering drawings, layouts, and design calculations
• Coordinate mechanical design requirements with in-house fabrication and assembly departments as well as outside subcontractors
• Implement designs that are ergonomic and easy to assemble and maintain
• Conduct research of design and engineering methods required for mechanical systems
• Support manufacturing of machinery and implement design changes and revisions as required
• Apply sound knowledge of machine design and engineering principles and best practices
• Select pneumatic and mechanical components based on machine function
• Collaborate with clients, electrical engineers, vendors, and internal teams throughout the design process

• Strong knowledge of machine design and mechanical engineering principles
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Proficiency with SolidWorks and PDM Vault
• Excellent organization and attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, customers, and cross-functional teams
• Ability to work effectively throughout the design, fabrication, and manufacturing process

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
• 7+ years of machine design experience
• Experience designing mechanical systems and machinery from concept through completion
• Machine design experience involving pick-and-place machines and/or robotics preferred
