Senior Design EngineerWalther Manufacturing is looking for a Senior Design Engineer with experience in the field of firearm design and development. This position will have the overall responsibility for the design of new products and the redesign of existing products.Duties and Responsibilities:Responsible for leading and mentoring design engineering work functions including 3D Modeling, Mechanical Drawings, Project Timelines, Validation Plans, Design for Manufacturability, & Simulation (FEA and dynamic).Lead design of new firearms platforms, components, and accessoriesLead cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineersDesign, prototype, and test various firearms and firearms-related accessoriesDesign products to meet all requirementsPresent design reviews and test results for management and stakeholdersWork with Product Development/Sales and Marketing team to define new productsInteract with Manufacturing, Quality, and suppliers to define production standards and documentsCoordinate with Purchasing, Quality, Sales, Manufacturing, Accounting, and MarketingSupport product from design through launchSupport manufacturing with design optimization and production test proceduresSupport and Implement changes from VA/VE activitiesPerform other responsibilities as deemed appropriate or necessary by managementQualifications and Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related disciplineFive or more years' experience in design engineering in a manufacturing settingExtensive knowledge in designing firearmsProficient in the use of SolidWorks; Simulation experience preferredKnowledge of Design & Process FMEA, DVPR, Error-Proofing, VA/VE and Root Cause Analysis; LEAN methodologies and Six Sigma knowledge preferredProficiency with GD&T per ASME Y14.5Ability to read and interpret documents including reports, specifications, and standardsAbility to solve complex problems and communicate information to managers, peers, suppliers, and subordinatesPerform other responsibilities as deemed appropriate or necessary by managementAs part of our hiring process, Walther Manufacturing requires all candidates to undergo a background check and drug screening.
