Radiologic Technologist Neuro Interventional

Job Summary:

The SMH Interventional Radiology Neuro Radiologic Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic and interventional radiologic procedures with a focus on neurosurgery and neuroscience. The role requires proficiency in imaging techniques, patient preparation, and assisting radiologists during procedures. The technologist must ensure high-quality radiographic images, maintain equipment functionality, and uphold patient rights and confidentiality. This position involves working collaboratively within the department and participating in performance improvement activities. A minimum of two years of experience, appropriate licensing, and BLS certification are required. Responsibilities:

• Select appropriate exposure factors and positioning to produce diagnostic quality radiologic images.
• Prepare and instruct patients for radiographic and fluoroscopic examinations.
• Assist Radiologists during interventional procedures.
• Operate all x-ray equipment, including CR and DR systems, competently and proficiently.
• Report equipment malfunctions promptly to management.
• Complete assigned procedures efficiently and support departmental needs during downtime.
• Maintain medication security, ensuring access only to authorized personnel.
• Provide healthcare services and demonstrate interpersonal skills across all age groups.
• Use Hospital Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and PACS for documentation and information management.
• Participate in hospital performance improvement projects and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Respond to technical telephone inquiries professionally and courteously.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Technician License in the state of New York.
• Two years of experience in radiologic technology.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Experience in neurosurgery/neuroscience radiologic procedures.
• Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART).

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in Vascular and Interventional Radiology (VIR).

Special Considerations:

• Work schedule includes four 10-hour day shifts per week.
• Must be available for weekends, holidays, on-call, and callback duties as per unit needs.
• On-call frequency is approximately 1-2 times per week and 1-2 weekends per month.

• Standard schedule consists of four 10-hour day shifts.
• Shift assignments may include weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations.
