Part-time Customer Care Representative

Job Description Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative (SMECO) has immediate openings for Part‑time Customer Care Representatives . SMECO's Customer Care Representatives are the frontline of our company. We are seeking candidates with excellent customer service and strong computer skills that can deliver the best‑in‑class service with each member interaction. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Learns to answer all incoming calls/inquiries and customer requests by offering prompt, confidential assistance.
• Responds to complaints and requests for information and assistance by understanding and utilizing all related system applications, business tools and business processes. Use information obtained through contact with customers to advise supervisors of trends in customer concerns, suggestions, and possible new services or products.
• Learns to monitor and complete follow up with customers to ensure customer service requests and/or issues are resolved.
• Learn how to prepare correspondence to handle customer inquiries and prepare and submit statistical data.
• Informs customers of various SMECO payment plans or outside assistance programs as they may apply to the customer's needs; enrolls customers in appropriate SMECO plans.
• Learns to utilize, update and maintain related system applications to ensure data integrity.
• Participates in training and testing for: system upgrades, new processes and job knowledge and sharing.

TRAINING

• 15 weeks of extensive on the job training
• Must be willing to commit to attending training for the 15-week timeframe
• Training hours are Tues-Thurs 8am-5pm, and Fri 8am-12pm

REQUIRED SKILLS

• High school diploma or the equivalent is preferred, but not required
• Must have at least three years of office experience with at least one year of experience in a customer service-related position. Call Center experience is preferred
• Must be flexible and willing to work additional hours as needed
• Dependable and possess strong work ethics
• Ability to work in a structured environment
• Technically Savvy
• Pay attention to detail
• Communicate effectively
• Strong team player & service-oriented worker
• Successful completion of customer service skills assessment required
• Must pass background check and drug/alcohol tests
