At Bermex, we are always looking for motivated individuals who enjoy working independently and love the outdoors to become a part of our team.**About the Role**The General Laborer reports to the Project Manager or Lead Technician at Bermex. This position will play a key role in preparing meter pits for installation of new meters and assisting with meter box replacements. This position requires a high degree of organization and excellent attention to detail. Time management and caution to not break any meters or pipes, must keep the surrounding area clean of debris.**What You’ll Do**Cleaning Out Pits* Digging and removing dirt, disposing of properly* Use of shovels and trenching shovelsPumping Out Flooded Pits* Use of manual or battery pumps to remove dirt and water from meter pits* Sometimes as much as two five-gallon buckets of dirt will be removed from each pit and need to be disposed of properly at a separate location.Meter Box Replacements* Digging out and proper disposal of broken meter boxes* Use of shovels* Ground remediation of disturbed ground around meter box replacement* Meter box replacements require the use of shovels and trenching shovels to remove the old box and then a shovel and rake to backfill the site and ground restoration.* The old pits will need to be disposed of in a separate locationOther duties as assigned.**About You*** Minimum Qualifications:* Education: None required* Experience: No experience necessary. Employees will be trained. Must possess a valid driver’s license.* Preferred Qualifications:* Education: High School Degree/GED* Experience: Experience in working in outdoor conditions.
