As a Senior Software Engineer , you will join an innovative team dedicated to building high-performance, scalable software solutions that improve health outcomes and streamline operations. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain critical software systems, collaborating closely with cross-functional engineering teams, product management, and architectural leads. You will leverage modern technologies, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines to deliver high-quality, resilient technology solutions that support our global enterprise vision. Primary Responsibilities: Design, develop, test, deploy, and support scalable software applications and microservices using modern enterprise technology stacks Collaborate with software architects, product managers, and engineering peers to translate functional business requirements into technical solutions Write clean, maintainable, efficient, and well-documented code following enterprise engineering standards and design principles Participate in peer code reviews, design discussions, and architecture planning to enforce quality standards and engineering best practices Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve performance bottlenecks, system defects, and production issues to ensure high availability and stability Drive automated testing practices and support continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions to address complex business challenges with emphasis on responsible use of AI You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear directions on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications: 7+ years of professional software engineering experience designing, building, and deploying enterprise-grade applications 5+ years of hands-on experience with one or more modern object-oriented or functional programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C#, or Go) 3+ years of experience designing and interacting with relational or non-relational database systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or MongoDB) 3+ years of experience developing RESTful APIs, web services, and microservices architecture 2+ years of experience with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) tools and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience) Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes Experience with Agile development practices and tools (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, Jira) Experience with automated testing frameworks and test-driven development (TDD) methodologies Knowledge of healthcare industry data standards, security protocols, and compliance requirements *All Telecommuters will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy. The salary for this role will range from $91,700 - $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
