Senior Human Resources Generalist

Full-time, on-site position at our Main Office in Des Plaines

We are looking for an experienced, motivated HR professional to join our growing team. This position will be responsible for managing day-to-day human resources functions, including recruiting, onboarding, employee benefits, compliance, and HR administration. The ideal candidate is organized, approachable, and takes ownership of their work while supporting employees and management across our three locations.

Anderson Lock is a family-owned company with over 120 employees. We are seeking someone with strong HR experience, practical problem-solving skills, and a hands-on approach who can grow with our organization and assume additional responsibilities over time.

Primary Responsibilities :

• Manage HR administration, employee records, personnel files, and compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
• Coordinate recruiting, candidate screening, interviews, hiring, and onboarding.
• Administer employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, open enrollment, and employee leave.
• Guide and support managers with employee development and employee relations, while taking an active role in improving and eventually leading the company’s performance review and employee development processes.
• Maintain employee information in Paylocity, oversee timekeeping accuracy, and gradually assume responsibility for payroll processing.
• Manage prevailing wage compliance, including wage classifications, certified payroll reporting, and related recordkeeping.
• Coordinate workers’ compensation, payroll, benefits, and other employment-related audits, ensuring accurate records and timely responses.
• Review, maintain, and continually improve HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with changing employment laws, improve efficiency, and maintain consistent practices across the organization.

Requirements:

• Extensive human resources generalist experience, with demonstrated ability to independently manage HR functions and provide guidance to managers and leadership.
• Strong knowledge of Illinois and federal employment laws and compliance requirements
• Experience with recruiting, benefits administration, onboarding, and employee relations
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain confidentiality
• Practical, hands-on approach with sound judgment and strong interpersonal skills
• Experience in a privately held or family-owned business with approximately 65–250 employees preferred.
• Paylocity experience and PHR or SHRM-CP certification a plus

Salary Range: $90,000–$110,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
