Position Overview Position title: Unit 18 Temporary Lecturer Salary range: $70,977–$79,887 (based on UC academic salary scales). Position Description The Department of Astronomy & Astrophysics at UC San Diego seeks an outstanding temporary instructor for an undergraduate course in Astronomy and Astrophysics. Candidates will teach a diverse population of undergraduate students in classroom and one‑on‑one settings, create and maintain a respectful, open, and inclusive learning environment, advise students on academic matters, and maintain an active interest in advances in their subject area. Candidates will also utilize appropriate, relevant, and meaningful technology in teaching and learning. Responsibilities Teaching undergraduate astronomy and astrophysics courses, advising students, integrating technology into instructional delivery, and maintaining inclusivity and respect within the classroom. Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application): Candidate must have or be a candidate for a PhD in Astronomy/Astrophysics or related field. Additional qualifications (required at time of start): Ph.D. must be awarded prior to the start of the teaching quarter. Preferred qualifications: Research experience, demonstrated record of mentorship, teaching experience in both lecture and laboratory settings.
