Route Sales Manager-Northbrook

Location: Northbrook, IL | Schedule: Full-time, field-based/on-site Overview An established industrial hardware distributor with a long operating history is seeking a Route Sales Manager to serve a defined geographic territory. This company operates mobile stores that bring a full range of industrial hardware directly to customers across sectors such as transportation, aviation, facilities maintenance, aerospace, medical, military, marine, power generation, manufacturing, federal/local government, and heavy equipment. The role is central to how the company builds and maintains customer relationships through direct, in-person service. What you'll do Develop new sales prospects through research, referrals, and calling on businesses near existing customers Make face-to-face calls on cold and warm sales prospects Present products and services using sample boards, product demonstrations, and your mobile store Maintain the cleanliness, operation, marketing, and functionality of your mobile store Submit complete and accurate daily business reports detailing sales orders and prospect calls Continually maintain customer contact information—including notes, names, phone numbers, and addresses—using company software Required qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Must reside within the assigned territory Must be able to purchase or lease an approved mobile store vehicle Must maintain a clean driving history Physical ability to kneel and bend to the floor on a regular basis Strong tenured work background with no job hopping; ideal candidate has a maximum of 3 companies over the past 10 years Excellent analytical, reasoning, and organizational skills Proficiency with databases, spreadsheets, email, and common business applications Demonstrated ability to work independently and a proven history of goal attainment Preferred qualifications Outside industrial sales experience, especially in route or industrial sales, is preferred Why this role This position offers the chance to operate your own mobile store and directly serve a wide range of industries within a defined territory, combining sales autonomy with hands‑on customer engagement. #J-18808-Ljbffr Software Placement Group, SPG
