Staff AI Engineer

Virtual Vocations Inc

To drive the adoption of generative AI and automation across the engineering organization, the full-time Staff AI Engineer will design and implement automation solutions, collaborate with engineering teams to identify workflow improvements, and evaluate AI tools to enhance productivity in a remote setting. Key responsibilities Act as the subject-matter expert on generative AI and agentic systems, evaluating their practical applications within engineering Diagnose team-level workflows and pain points, translating findings into a prioritized backlog of AI-enabled solutions Own the AI enablement roadmap, proposing and executing initiatives while measuring their impact on engineering productivity Required qualifications 8+ years in software engineering with a proven track record of shipping production systems end-to-end Hands-on experience with LLMs and agentic systems, including prompt engineering and orchestration Real production-level experience with modern AI coding assistants and a clear understanding of their value Working knowledge of applied ML fundamentals to transition heuristic systems to ML-based approaches Demonstrated ability to drive technical adoption across an engineering organization without direct authority
