Overview The Navy Exchange Service Command in Dahlgren, VA supports United States Navy personnel and their families by providing essential services and support. Job Summary Serves as a working leader at a Navy Gateway Inn and Suites and/or Navy Lodge property, responsible for leading and inspecting the work of team members in performing housekeeping duties, ensuring program standards are met. Duties and Responsibilities Oversee and pass on information/instructions from the supervisor/manager to Housekeeping Attendants. Assist in training new associates, answer questions regarding policy changes, keep the supervisor apprised of work status, assignments, and advise on problem areas. Train and demonstrate proper work methods and procedures for all personnel, ensuring efficient and economical cleaning and maintenance of guest rooms. Ensure required cleaning materials and linen are available. Work alongside associates to perform their duties. Maintain records of housekeeping work performed by room, number of occupants, departure and arrival dates. Maintain continuity in the absence of an immediate supervisor. Greet and welcome guests upon arrival, maintaining outstanding guest relations. Conduct daily inspections of rooms, housekeeping carts, common areas, laundry facilities, and document these inspections in writing. Ensure privacy and security of guests at all times. Secure all items in the storeroom and/or assigned storage areas, determine and place orders for cleaning supplies, in‑room amenities, and other materials or equipment needed by the housekeeping staff. Maintain, store, and account for equipment. Issue amenities, supplies and linen to Housekeeping Attendants and perform a monthly/quarterly inventory as required. Handle guest and/or staff suggestions and complaints; resolve problems diplomatically, referring difficult or unusual situations to the supervisor for resolution. Perform the full range of housekeeping services, including vacuuming, mopping, dusting, scrubbing, washing, moving items, polishing, cleaning, removing debris/trash, transporting clean and dirty linen/towels. Use hand and powered cleaning equipment as needed. Set up, run, and clean up the complimentary "self‑service" breakfast bar. Assist with preparing, heating, displaying, and replenishing breakfast items for guests. Ensure the area is returned to its original state and free of leftover food by the end of breakfast hours. Obtain required food handling certifications as applicable. Apply knowledge of blood‑borne pathogens safety measures to maintain a clean and safe environment. Perform and inspect laundry operations at the facility. Possess a valid state driver’s license to travel to other lodging facilities as required within the normal scope of duties. Maintain operations during inclement weather and other emergencies for a short period in the absence of an immediate supervisor. Obtain NHG housekeeping certification within 6 months of employment and other required certifications. Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum 6 months housekeeping experience. Leadership and/or training experience.
