About your skills Strategic Thinking: You connect business trends, competitive dynamics, and market insights into clear, prioritized recommendations that build long-term value — and you can move from an 8-quarter strategic bet to this week's execution without losing the thread. Influence & Cross-Functional Leadership: You build trusted relationships up, down, and across the organization, and you know how to bring senior stakeholders to a decision — including pushing back when a proposed path won't get the business the outcome it needs. Data-Driven Judgment: You pair rigorous quantitative analysis with sound qualitative judgment to get to the “so what,” and you're comfortable using AI tools to accelerate insight generation and share that fluency with your team. Ownership & Operational Rigor: You take full, end-to-end ownership of programs and processes — including the unglamorous ones — and you bring the same discipline to a weekly business review that you bring to a market-entry strategy. About this role We're standing up Udemy's Consumer Strategy, Business Operations & Insights (StratOps) team, and we're looking for a Strategy & Business Operations Lead to help build it. This role is roughly 80% strategy and 20% business operations: you'll spend most of your time shaping Consumer's end-to-end strategy — market and competitive insights, white-space opportunities, and annual planning — while also owning the operating cadence that keeps the Consumer organization accountable to its goals. You'll report to the Director of Strategy, Business Operations & Insights and partner closely with Analytics, FP&A, Research, Product, and Marketing. It's a high-visibility, high-ownership seat for someone who wants to shape both what Consumer does next and how well it executes. What you’ll be doing Develop and continuously sharpen Udemy's end-to-end Consumer strategy across a 2–8 quarter horizon, partnering with Corporate Strategy on longer-term direction. Identify, evaluate, and prioritize new white-space growth opportunities — market segments, products, and experiences — from initial hypothesis through business case. Lead competitive and market intelligence work, including how Udemy is positioned relative to LLMs, YouTube, and other emerging learning and creator platforms. Partner with Research and Product Marketing to translate learner and market insights into strategic recommendations, and help shape Udemy's research priorities. Provide strategic input to annual and half-year planning, ensuring Consumer's priorities are resourced and sequenced against the highest-impact opportunities. Own the structure and rigor of the Consumer team's operating cadence — weekly strategy & ops meetings, OKR/KPI tracking, and initiative accountability (clear owners, decision rights, and progress tracking). Partner with Analytics to drive performance reporting and diagnostics — helping leadership understand not just what happened, but why, and what to do about it — with particular focus on engagement and retention. What you’ll have 5+ years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, or a strategy-focused business operations role, ideally within a consumer or subscription-based tech environment; MBA or advanced degree a plus. A track record of developing strategic recommendations from market and competitive analysis — sizing opportunities, evaluating tradeoffs, and translating findings into resourced, sequenced plans. Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, including comfort building forecasts and business cases, and using AI tools to accelerate analysis. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence and align senior stakeholders across functions. A self-starter who's comfortable owning ambiguity — equally capable of framing a multi-quarter strategic bet and stepping in to unblock a stalled weekly report. Experience partnering with Finance, Analytics, Product, and Marketing teams within a matrixed organization. Familiarity with operating cadences (QBR/MBR processes, KPI dashboards, or similar) is a plus — you don't need to have owned one, but you understand how they drive accountability. $126,000—$157,500 USD
