Fire Sprinkler Inspector

The Fire Sprinkler Inspector is responsible for performing inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems to ensure compliance with national, state, and local fire codes and regulations. This role requires strong technical knowledge of fire protection systems, attention to detail, and the ability to record and report inspection results accurately. Key Responsibilities Conduct routine and emergency inspections of fire sprinkler systems in commercial, industrial, and residential buildings. Perform testing and maintenance procedures according to NFPA, state, and local regulations. Document inspection findings and prepare accurate reports for internal records and regulatory agencies. Communicate inspection results, repair recommendations, and compliance requirements to property owners or management. Coordinate with other fire safety professionals, building owners, and contractors as needed. Identify system deficiencies or safety hazards and report them promptly. Stay current on applicable codes, standards, and best practices related to fire sprinkler systems. Maintain proper care and calibration of inspection tools and test equipment. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Experience with fire sprinkler inspections and maintenance. Knowledge of NFPA standards (e.g., NFPA 13, 25) and fire sprinkler systems. Proficient verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Physical ability to climb ladders, lift equipment, and work in a variety of environments (indoors/outdoors, confined spaces, etc.). Preferred Qualifications NICET Level II (or higher) certification in Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems. Additional certifications or formal training in fire safety or fire protection technology. Experience with digital inspection reporting tools. Knowledge of additional fire protection systems (e.g., fire alarms, suppression systems). Technical knowledge of fire sprinkler systems. Problem-solving and critical thinking. Time management. Professionalism and customer service. Adherence to safety standards and protocols.
