Mental Health Crisis Case Manager – Emergency Department – Night Shift Hourly Pay Range: $35.16 - $54.50 – The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors. Position Highlights Position: Mental Health Crisis Case Manager Location: Highland Park Hospital Emergency Department Full Time/Part Time: Full Time Hours: 40 Hrs/Wk ; Night Shift Required Travel: Yes, between Skokie, Glenbrook, and Highland Park Hospitals Holidays: Yes What You Will Do Conduct crisis clinical assessments for patients seeking treatment. Appropriately assess their clinical needs, obtain initial diagnostic impression and confirmation during the disposition process with the physician or designee. Assess patients, including vital signs, weight, blood alcohol, and BMI for specific populations. Review previous documentation prior to assessment and develop case formulation. Provide treatment referrals consistent with the patient’s medical and psychiatric status and symptoms. Identify potential or actual problems that could adversely affect the patient or department and report situations immediately. Oversee follow‑up with referral sources as appropriate. Obtain collateral with families and support systems through face‑to‑face interviews and/or phone calls. Consult with multidisciplinary treatment team members on the assessment, treatment, and discharge planning of patients with mental health problems. Complete admission paperwork and serve as a resource for hospital staff on patient rights. Coordinate with families and community agencies as appropriate. Participate in care conferences and emergency department huddles to discuss key social, financial, and discharge planning factors. Facilitate bed management planning and coordination with Endeavour Inpatient Psych units. Educate patients and families regarding the effects of illness and disability on personal adjustment and relationships. Follow up on documentation with local and state agencies as a mandated reporter per HIPAA guidelines. What You Will Need Education: Master’s degree or higher in Behavioral Health field. Certification: None. License: Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse or Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse. Experience: Experience with group, individual, and family therapy; experience with adolescents and families in crisis; familiarity with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy; minimum of two years in crisis/emergency services, behavioral health setting preferred; knowledge of patient rights and mental‑health law. Unique or Preferred Skills: Emergency Room mental health therapy.
