Description

American Traveler is seeking a Pediatric Physical Therapist for an inpatient/outpatient role at a Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma acute care hospital, requiring 1+ years of experience and pediatric specialization.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting covering pediatric inpatient and outpatient services, including PICU
• Work settings include acute care and outpatient clinic environments
• Patient population includes conditions such as cerebral palsy, developmental delays, scoliosis, spina bifida, and torticollis
• Shift options include 4x10 or 5x8 day shifts (traveler's choice), typically 7:00 AM-5:00 PM
• Assignment length of 13 or 26 weeks (traveler's choice)
• Some weekend work required, approximately 1-2 weekend shifts per month
• No on-call requirements
• Candidates will float within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals
• Uses Epic for charting

Requirements

• Active AK PT License required (license required if applicable)
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of experience required, with preference for 2 years
• Pediatric experience required
• Experience with assessments including AROM/AAROM/PROM, strength testing, and sensory response
• Documentation skills across evaluation, plan of care, and discharge summaries
• Experience with equipment such as wheelchairs, gait belts, walkers, and specialty beds
• Knowledge of orthopedic treatment including gait training and modalities (moist heat, TENS, ultrasound)
• Epic charting experience required
• First-time travelers accepted with 2 years of experience

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include pediatric evaluation, milestone assessment, individualized care planning, and patient/family education
• Focus on neurologic conditions such as traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and muscular dystrophy preferred
• Facility is a Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma center recognized as a top hospital in Alaska
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• Must be willing to work 2 of the 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year
• Local candidates not accepted; must live at least 50 miles from the facility
• Former permanent staff must be separated from the organization for a minimum of 3 months before returning as a traveler
• Maximum assignment length of 1 calendar year, followed by a required 6-month break before returning to the same facility
• Hepatitis B vaccination required; titers or declinations not accepted
• RTO is approved on an individual basis at time of offer
