Leveraging rigorous engineering principles, the team integrates safety into every phase of the system lifecycle, enhancing reliability and safeguarding our warfighters.We are currently seeking Principal System Safety Engineers. These are onsite roles and can be located in Woburn, Tewksbury, Marlborough, Andover, MA or Portsmouth RI. What You Will Do:System Safety Program Development and ImplementationDevelop and implement MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs, including management, analysis, evaluation, and verification tasksInterpret system requirements, customer specifications, and military standards to recommend compliance strategies to program leadershipProject and Program Management IntegrationCreate and manage safety strategies, integrate tasks into the Program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), and ensure compliance with contract and funding requirementsOversee safety budgets and execution, including Earned Value Management (EVM) and coordination with CAMs, IPTLs, and product ownersProvide mentorship to early-career safety engineersRisk Management and Stakeholder CollaborationProactively engage in design change boards (e.g., engineering review boards, configuration control boards) to assess impacts on safety programsCoordinate and lead System Safety Working Groups with internal and external stakeholders, including government customersCollaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to identify and mitigate risks, ensure hazard elimination, and implement effective controlsTechnical Analysis and EvaluationConduct safety analyses of engineering designs, hardware, mechanical/electrical drawings, schematics, and system requirements to ensure fault tolerance and safety complianceAddress safety-related interactions with suppliers and subcontractorsLifecycle Safety OversightManage safety considerations across all lifecycle phases, including design, integration/testing, flight test, production, field operations, returns, demilitarization, and disposalSafety Culture and Continuous ImprovementInnovate and implement improved safety solutions and identify best practices to enhance the organization’s overall safety cultureQualifications You Must Have:Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experienceExperience developing and implementing MIL-STD-882E System Safety Program tasks and analysesExperience writing technical reports and presentationsExperience with briefing safety status to safety approval authority at technical reviews, to safety review boards and/or to others as part of the safety approval processExperience managing or owning a safety programQualifications We Prefer:Active/transferable DoD security clearanceProgram tasks and analyses, involving management (task series 100), analysis (task series 200), evaluation (task series 300), and verification (task series 400).  This includes hardware and software safety related tasks. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
