City/State: New Rochelle, New York Grant Funded: No Department: MNR Lab Operations Bargaining Unit: 1199 Work Shift: Night (EVENINGS VARY) Scheduled Hours: 12:30 AM-8:30 AM (7.5 HOURS daily) Hourly Rate: $49.82 Job Summary Perform testing in an approved clinical laboratory technology training program under the supervision of an approved Clinical Laboratory Director. Testing is restricted to the area of certification. Perform routine and emergency tests on blood and other body fluids using a variety of automated and manual instrumentation in a timely manner. Maintain equipment and records according to department procedures and regulatory guidelines in the areas of QA and QC. Use independent judgment to solve technical and procedural problems. Responsibilities Work under the supervision of an approved Clinical Laboratory Director in the area restricted by the Certificate. Perform routine and emergency tests on blood, serum, spinal fluid and other body fluids using automated and manual equipment, depending on procedure. Monitor specimens to ensure work is completed and within turnaround time criteria. Review data prior to release, ensuring all data upon release is free of errors. Report all panic values to the appropriate individual or unit within the indicated time frame. Maintain quality control data on tests performed, resolve QC failures, and document actions as stipulated by laboratory procedures. Prepare reagents, take inventory, and advise supervisor as required. Maintain all records of work performed and keep maintenance logs of equipment. Assist with answering the telephone and perform order entry in the LISA system as necessary, following hospital telephone guidelines and ensuring error‑free LISA activities. Run required remote entry jobs. Assist with the training of new employees as described by supervisor. Maintain a clean work area in accordance with Infection Control guidelines and hospital, state, and federal guidelines. Perform other laboratory‑related tasks under the direction of a supervisor, as and when required. Qualifications BS or BA required. Clinical Laboratory Technologist required. Certificate to practice in an approved clinical laboratory technology training program issued by the NewYork State Department Of Education, Division of Professional Licensing Services.
