Accounting Advisory Consultant

A nationally recognized financial advisory firm is seeking experienced Big 4 accounting professionals to join its rapidly growing Client Advisory practice in Charlotte. About the Role This role is specifically designed for external auditors looking to make a high-compensation pivot into strategic, project-based financial consulting. Responsibilities Partner directly with client finance leadership and corporate controllers on complex accounting, reporting, and integration initiatives across the Charlotte market. Support high-profile corporate transactions, including mergers, acquisitions (M&A), divestitures, and post-close restructuring activities. Assist Fortune1000 and private equity-backed clients with technical accounting research and the implementation of complex U.S. GAAP guidance. Drive operational efficiency by optimizing financial reporting processes, close cycles, and accounting workflows for client organizations. Support SEC reporting workflows, IPO/audit readiness, and capital markets preparation projects. Provide strategic oversight for SOX compliance, internal controls (ICFR), and risk transformation projects. Qualifications Experience: 3–6 years of professional external audit experience, specifically coming out of a Big4 (PwC, EY, Deloitte, KPMG) or top-tier national firm (BDO, GrantThornton, RSM). TrackRecord: Minimum of 3 complete public accounting busy seasons completed. Technical Mastery: Deep operational knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial statement auditing, and internal control frameworks. Pedigree: Direct experience auditing large public entities, SEC registrants, or large private equity portfolio companies. Credentials: CPA license or actively on the CPA track. Soft Skills: Outstanding client-facing presence, analytical horsepower, and a desire to act as a strategic advisor. Mobility: Willingness to travel based on regional client project engagements.
