Retail Pharmacy Technician

The retail pharmacy technician is an integral member of the interdisciplinary care team and partnering with patients. Responsible for all technical operations, regulatory compliance, medication safety, prescription processing, specialty pharmacy services/programs, and patient experiences within supervising pharmacies and remote dispensing sites. The retail pharmacy technician is a champion for all clinical and operational initiatives, partnering with the pharmacist and key stakeholders to drive strategic growth and development, program integrity, financial viability, and optimal patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities include processing prescriptions throughout the lifecycle, maintaining the highest patient experience standards, managing technical operational functions and inventory, ensuring regulatory compliance, handling all technical aspects of specialty pharmacy services, operationalizing ThedaCare policies and procedures, championing clinical and operational initiatives, contributing to the interdisciplinary patient care team, functioning as a certified and competent technician, maintaining knowledge of the 340B program, and ensuring compliance and program intent.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED preferred, being 18 years of age, minimum 1500 hours of pharmacy technician work experience in the immediate preceding 3 year timeframe preferred, minimum 1 year of pharmacy technician work experience preferred, and registered/licensed pharmacy technician with the State of Wisconsin required.

Physical demands include the ability to move freely and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance. The work environment includes a climate controlled office setting with daily movement throughout the hospital campus, exposure to blood borne pathogens, sharp objects and instruments, communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents, occasional contact with aggressive and or combative patients, use of computers throughout the work day, and frequent use of keyboard with repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and fingers.
