This role reports to the Business Director.Position SummaryThe IP Litigation Paralegal position will provide organizational and practice specific assistance to attorneys in the IP Litigation Department in preparing litigation cases from onset through post trial including related research and analysis. Candidate should also be flexible to work overtime as needed.Key ResponsibilitiesAssists with all aspects of patent, trademark and other IP litigation, including deposition and other discovery preparation, trial preparation, pre-trial compliance, trial, post-trial and appellate proceedings, including preparation for oral arguments, case strategy conferences and preparation and filing of motions and briefs electronically or manuallyAssists with all aspects of AIA trials (inter partes reviews, post-grant reviews), including document preparation, proofing, and filing, case management, deposition scheduling and managementAssist with preparing and filing documents in post-grant patent proceedings (inter partes reviews and ex parte reexaminations) before Patent Trial and Appeal Board ("PTAB")Support patent litigation, patent appeals and contested proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) and U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC)Creates and maintains organizational systems for case documents, document productions, and e-discoveryCreate and maintain case schedules and calendarsReviews, analyzes and drafts discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, notices and other court pleadings and documents, including summarizing transcripts and other recordsAnalyzed multiple document productions to identify client attorney privilege for organization into witness files and preparation of privilege logsProvided litigation related logistics, including legal discovery, research, trial preparation and supportPrepares filing for in state and federal courtPreparation and set-up for Markman hearingsIdentifies, investigates, collects, analyzes and organizes factual evidence, including deposition and witness outlines, and deposition and trial exhibitsAssist with review and selection of documentation to in preparation of fact and expert witnessesParticipates in the creation of databases, including coordination with outside vendors and internal resourcesConducts database searches, review and coordination of productions and reportsIdentifies, calendars and complies with regulatory agency or court-imposed schedules and orders in accordance with local, state and federal rules and regulations, including coordinating and negotiating scheduling of case events such as depositions and conferencesConducts legal and factual research including investigating factual issues by review and analysis of documents, telephone interviews and field investigationAssumes responsibility for coordination and operation of trial support technologyAssists attorneys with case settlement, including gathering and organizing data and distribution of settlement materialsAssists with other department activities as needed, and performs additional duties and responsibilities as assignedQualificationsSkills & CompetenciesStrong problem-solving skills, takes initiative and uses good judgment, excellent follow-up skillsAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of the organization and collaborate well in a teamExcellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), professional demeanor and presentationPosition also requires the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines, effectively prioritize multiple tasksHigh attention to detail, outstanding organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectivelyProvide outstanding client service, meet high quality standards for services and meet or exceed client expectations. Proactive in seeking innovative ways in which to help othersRecognize confidential, sensitive, and proprietary information and maintain such information as confidentialCandidate must be a self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervisionEducation & Prior ExperienceBachelor’s Degree required, Certificate in Paralegal studies from an accredited institution preferred; equivalent experience consideredCertified Paralegal a plusMinimum of 3 years of experience as a Patent Litigation Paralegal or similar within a law firm with demonstrated knowledge of complex issues within the Litigation practice areaPatent trial experience, including exhibit preparation, witness preparation and management, knowledge of subpoena preparation, experience working with judicial assistants and trial presentation vendors, experience assisting attorneys in the courtroom.Experience with E-filing and litigation support applications such as Concordance, Relativity and other 3rd-party applicationsExperience with the PTAB’s E2E filing systemKnowledge of Lexis-Nexis, Westlaw and internet search engines for research purposesKnowledge of Pacer and ECF filing proceduresComputer proficiency in Windows-based software and Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OutlookExceptional computer skills with the ability to learn new software applications quicklyTechnologyComputer proficiency in Windows-based software and Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook, as well as document managementProficiency with E-filing and litigation support applications such as Relativity, Opus 2 and Adobe AcrobatDemonstrates a basic understanding of artificial intelligence (AI), including core capabilities, limitations, and importance of data privacy, accuracy, verification, and ethical considerations within a professional services environmentFamiliarity with or willingness to learn AI platforms (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar tools) and incorporate them responsibly into day-to-day workflows to enhance daily work tasks as appropriate and/or directedProactive approach to learning and adapting to emerging AI and related technologies and contributes to a culture of innovationThe expected pay range for this position is:$40.55–$47.32 per hourActual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
