Vitreoretinal Surgeon – Open Rank, Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences Position Summary: The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center seeks an outstanding vitreoretinal surgeon to add to our expanding group. The candidate will develop a busy clinical practice at the UNM Hospital Eye Clinic, share responsibility for on‑call duties, and participate in medical student and resident education. The surgeon will also engage in academic research and contribute to a service that offers a mix of tertiary and indigent care. Responsibilities Build and maintain a busy clinical practice at the UNM Hospital Eye Clinic. Share on‑call responsibilities with existing faculty. Teach and supervise medical students, residents, and fellows. Participate in clinical research and clinical trials. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to preserve and restore vision. Qualifications Completion of an ophthalmology residency program. Completion of a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship. Board certified or eligible in ophthalmology. Eligible for licensure in New Mexico. Eligible to work in the United States. Preferred Qualifications Experience in clinical education. Experience in clinical research.
