The facility is licensed for 457 beds and is recognized for its trauma and stroke care. The department serves a diverse patient population with various chronic diseases, including heart failure, mental health issues, COPD, diabetes, and geriatric care. The average patient census per day is 51, with RN-to-patient ratios varying from 1:4-6, potentially increasing to 1:7-8 during surges depending on acuity. Daily tasks include administering medications, monitoring patient conditions, and performing assessments. Travelers may be required to float to other facilities within the region based on operational needs. The department is supported by a collaborative team, including nurse managers, clinical supervisors, staff RNs, and other healthcare personnel. The facility utilizes an electronic medical record system and has various specialized equipment for patient care. Weekend rotation is expected every other week, and travelers should anticipate working a majority of holidays. Requests for time off are allowed, with the provision that contracted hours are completed. The departmental culture emphasizes teamwork and accountability.
