Thrive Maternal Health Fund Overview

Mission Statement: Thrive Maternal Health Fund is dedicated to improving maternal health outcomes, with a particular focus on addressing disparities in care for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) women. Through advocacy, education, and direct support, we aim to reduce maternal mortality rates and increase access to quality maternal healthcare services for underserved communities.

Vision: We envision a world where all women, regardless of race, socioeconomic status, or background, have access to high-quality, compassionate maternal healthcare that supports their physical, emotional, and mental well-being during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period.

• Lived Experience: Direct or community perspective related to maternal health challenges is highly valued.
• Fundraising Experience and Resources: As a nonprofit, fundraising is a core component of our programs. Each board member brings their network and access to funding opportunities to help us reach our annual goal.

Board Member Responsibilities: As a board member of Thrive Maternal Health Fund, you will be instrumental in ensuring that our mission and vision are upheld. Your key responsibilities include:

Governance and Oversight

• Actively participate in board meetings and discussions.
• Review and approve organizational policies, budgets, and financial statements.
• Ensure that the organization complies with all legal and ethical standards.

Strategic Direction

• Contribute to the development and refinement of Thrive Maternal Health Fund’s long-term strategy and goals.
• Provide insight on key issues related to maternal health and advocacy.

Fundraising and Resource Development

• Support fundraising efforts by identifying potential donors and funding opportunities.
• Contribute to the organization’s financial health through personal donations and encourage others to do the same.

Advocacy and Networking

• Use your network and influence to advocate for maternal health policies that align with our mission.
• Represent Thrive Maternal Health Fund at relevant events and in meetings with stakeholders.

Committees

• Serve on one or more board committees as needed (e.g., Fundraising, Governance, Program).

Time Commitment

• Attend quarterly board meetings (in-person or virtual).
• Participate in committee work and other fundraising or advocacy events.
• Commit to an annual fundraising goal as part of our board responsibilities.
