Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for an Earthwork Estimator based in Gilberts, IL. The Earthwork Estimator will be responsible for analyzing plans and specifications, performing quantity take-offs, preparing cost estimates, and collaborating with project managers and clients to ensure accurate and competitive bids. Additional responsibilities include site visits, assessing project risks, and maintaining up-to-date costing databases.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with estimating software and tools relevant to the construction industry
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills
• Experience in earthwork, excavation, and site utilities
• Understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry practices
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with team members and clients
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
• Experience in the commercial construction field is a plus
• Analyze project plans, specifications, and requirements to prepare accurate and competitive earthwork estimates.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs using takeoff software for cut/fill, grading, trenching, and related activities.
• Utilize HCSS HeavyBid and other relevant tools to develop comprehensive cost estimates and bid proposals
• Collaborate with project managers, field supervisors, and subcontractors to gather cost data and scope details.
• Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure complete coverage of project scope.
• Prepare bid packages and submit final proposals on time.
• Provide input on constructability, risk assessment, and value engineering.
• Stay updated with market trends, material pricing, and labor rates.
• Maintain well-organized estimate records and documentation for future reference and audits.
• Proficiency in HCSS (HeavyBid), HCSS (HeavyJob), and industry-standard takeoff software (e.g. Agtek)
• Advanced Excel skills and strong command of Microsoft Office Suite.
