Sunshine Counseling Center is in search of a dedicated and proactive Licensed Trauma-Focused Mental Health Counselor to join our dynamic team in Mesquite, Texas. In this full-time remote position, you will play a pivotal role in providing specialized mental health therapy to individuals affected by trauma. Key Responsibilities\n- \n
- Conduct comprehensive trauma-informed mental health assessments to thoroughly evaluate patients' trauma history and current needs, allowing for the development of effective treatment plans. \n
- Design and implement individualized treatment plans that focus on trauma recovery and resilience-building utilizing evidence-based therapeutic interventions, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). \n
- Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, guiding patients in processing their trauma and developing effective coping strategies. \n
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, and other professionals to provide integrated care and ensure that all aspects of a patient's mental health are addressed. \n
- Provide immediate crisis intervention and support in trauma-related emergencies, fostering a sense of safety and security for patients in distress. \n
- Educate patients and their families about trauma responses and coping mechanisms, empowering them with tools to navigate their recovery journey. \n
- Maintain thorough and confidential documentation of patient interactions, treatment plans, and progress in accordance with legal and ethical standards. \n
- Engage actively in case consultations, team meetings, and ongoing professional development activities, focusing on enhancing trauma-informed care practices. \n
- Stay informed of advancements in trauma therapy, integrating new insights and methodologies into your practice. \n
You will primarily work with patients who are trauma survivors, including individuals battling PTSD, complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. Our patient population is diverse, and many individuals seek our services after experiencing distressing events that have significantly impacted their mental health. Your role is crucial in guiding these individuals toward recovery and helping them reclaim their lives through personalized care and support.
Qualifications\n- \n
- A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution is required. \n
- Current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT is mandatory in the state of Texas. \n
- A minimum of 2 years of post-licensure experience in a mental health setting, with a focus on trauma-related disorders. \n
- In-depth knowledge of trauma-related disorders and trauma-informed treatment modalities. \n
- Experience in delivering trauma-focused therapies, with a preference for training in EMDR and TF-CBT. \n
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating a compassionate and non-judgmental approach toward patients. \n
- The ability to maintain composure in high-stress situations and provide comfort and guidance to patients in need. \n
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and relevant computer applications is essential for efficient patient management. \n
- A collaborative spirit, thriving in a multidisciplinary team environment. \n

- Experience working within community health settings is highly valued. \n
- Demonstrable expertise in crisis intervention and trauma-specific therapeutic approaches. \n
- Continuing education in trauma therapy and related fields is advantageous. \n
The annual salary for this position ranges from $90,000 to $110,000, commensurate with experience and education.
