Grocery Store Manager

Location: 406 Grand Canyon Drive, Madison, WI 53719. Job Summary Gordon Food Service is seeking a Store Manager to oversee daily retail operations, drive performance, and provide excellent customer service. The manager will lead a team, manage inventory, and execute promotional activities. Responsibilities Support and execute in‑store promotional activities with high engagement and oversight on promotions and merchandising direction. Serve as a servant leader by interviewing, hiring, orienting, and training new associates; coach performance for success. Assess voice‑of‑customer data to identify customer experience, product selection needs, and opportunities for improvement. Develop weekly work schedules using the workforce management tool to meet labor targets while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws. Execute and grow external order programs such as e‑commerce and express orders. Qualifications Three or more years of grocery or retail management experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Hands‑on leadership experience in grocery retail (e.g., Produce, Deli/Bakery, or Meat/Seafood departments). Highly preferred. Availability for a demanding schedule: 50+ hours per week, including 10‑hour days, pre‑opening/closing shifts, and occasional six‑day workweeks. Experience in safe food handling and storage practices. Business acumen to understand and leverage financial reporting in driving positive business outcomes. Ability to unload merchandise from delivery trucks, organize merchandise, and transfer merchandise from stockroom to store. High School Diploma or equivalent (required). Bachelor’s in Business or related field preferred. Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record per GFS policy.
