Overview Join Maine Savings as a Mortgage Lending Assistant! As a Mortgage Lending Assistant, you will support our Mortgage Loan Officer. In this role, you will help move prospective clients through the loan process by providing sales support, loan coordination, document collection, customer service, and end-to-end follow-through. Your work will directly increase MLO productivity and contribute to an exceptional borrower experience. What You’ll Do Monitor loan files and ensure efficient, accurate processing through closing Organize and track active loans as directed by the MLO Obtain borrower applications and assist with pre-qualification Deliver superior member service to borrowers and partners Complete and review required forms; collect documentation and fees Submit files to underwriting and ensure compliance and accuracy Manage inbound calls for the MLO and ensure professional communication Maintain the MLO database and coordinate submissions to processing and closing Assist with pricing scenarios and rate locks Provide loan status updates to borrowers and maintain pipeline visibility Learn and utilize internal mortgage technology and loan systems Maintain strong working knowledge of FHA, VA, USDA, and other mortgage programs Follow all federal and state lending compliance guidelines Requirements Work schedule is 8am-5pm, Monday - Friday. Hybrid remote schedule may be provided after training period is complete. Please note that hours listed, Saturday requirements, and remote work opportunities are subject to change at any time, based on needs of Maine Savings. Education High school diploma required. Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred, especially in business, finance, communications, or a related field. NMLS. Experience 2-5 years of experience as a mortgage loan assistant, processor, or mortgage operations specialist. Familiarity with conventional, FHA, VA, and USDA loan programs. Experience working in a loan origination system such as Encompass. Strong understanding of mortgage documentation, disclosures, and processing timelines. Excellent communication skills with borrowers, Realtors, attorneys, and internal staff. Core Competencies Outstanding organization and attention to detail. Ability to manage 60-120 active loans across four MLOs, depending on complexity. Skilled at prioritizing competing deadlines. Professional phone and email communication. Ability to proactively identify missing documentation and keep files moving. Comfortable using Microsoft Office, document management systems, and Excel.
