About the Position

Job Title: Radiologic Technologist Profession: Radiology Specialty: Radiology Duration: 17 weeks Shift: Monday-Friday Hours per Shift: 8.5 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: SC Radiology Tech license required Certifications: BLS certification, RD ARRT certification, registration through the South Carolina Clienttion Quality Standards Association required Must-Have: Familiarity with GE X-ray equipment and OEC C-arms Description: Administers roentgen rays and radioactive substances to patients. Operates X-ray equipment and develops films. Prepares patient’s room, equipment, supplies, and medications. Provides patient services using imaging modalities. Follows prescribed techniques in administering general and specific X-rays. Adjusts equipment; determines proper voltage, current, and desired exposure time. Arranges immobilization and support devices to obtain positioning of patient. Adjusts lead shields and selects proper film. Determines techniques for ionizing radiation during radiologic exams. Prepares barium preparations and other chemical mixtures for X-rays. Observes patients and machines during procedures and reports unusual occurrences. Records patient’s condition throughout the process. Develops films in accordance with photographic techniques. Cleans and disinfects X-ray rooms and equipment. Prepares patients for X-rays by explaining procedures. Transfers and positions patients safely. Assists patients at the end of procedures. Explains exams and equipment to patients and/or families. Maintains stock of supplies and performs general office duties. Writes reports and takes mobile X-ray units to patients’ rooms. Inspects emergency trays and writes weekly reports. Transports patients. Maintains radiographic technique charts. Provides formal and informal education based on identified needs for staff and peers.
