Controller | Construction | Chicago | $140,000 to $170,000 + Bonus/Benefits Brilliant is partnering with a well-established and growing construction company in Chicago to identify a Controller who will serve as a key member of the leadership team. This is a highly visible role responsible for leading the accounting function, strengthening financial processes, and partnering with operations to support continued growth. Responsibilities Lead all accounting operations including month-end and year-end close. Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and management reporting. Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis. Manage job costing, WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion accounting, and project profitability reporting. Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and external audit requirements. Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities. Partner with project managers and executive leadership to improve operational and financial performance. Develop, mentor, and lead the accounting team while driving process improvements and system efficiencies. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities. Construction industry experience required. Strong understanding of job costing, WIP reporting, and construction accounting. Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting. ERP experience and advanced Excel skills. CPA is a plus but not required.
