Custodial Position

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One year custodial experience preferred
• Meet the following physical demands:
• Display manual dexterity
• Reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, balance, and crawl
• Regularly lift or move up to 20 pounds
• Frequently lift or move up to 40 pounds
• Occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds
• Display hearing, visual, and olfactory acuity
• Stand for long periods of time

• Superintendent
• Building principal
• Head Custodian/Maintenance

Job Goals:

• To assist in the servicing, cleaning and maintenance of district equipment, building areas and grounds to maintain a sanitary, orderly and attractive condition conducive and safe for learning.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Implement the policies of the Board of Education.
• Communicate appropriately with supervisors, other employees, students, and
• Maintain a friendly and helpful environment.
• Maintain an acceptable standard of personal appearance.
• Follow established procedures and schedules for the cleaning of the facilities and grounds.
• Assist in custodial services to all school facilities and grounds.
• Perform a variety of custodial duties, including but not limited to: cleaning walls, floors, ceilings, windows, toilets, urinals, showers, sinks, cots, furniture, trash cans, doors, vents, pictures, baseboards, light fixtures, water fountains, televisions, bookcases, tables, desks, cabinets, drapes, blinds, telephones, custodial equipment or other items, as directed.
• Assist in the shampooing of carpets, stripping and refinishing of floors, as directed.
• Maintain all work areas in a safe and sanitary standard as required by the school district.
• Use chemical products only as directed by manufacturer.
• Attend meetings and training classes, as directed.
• Assist in the use of a variety of tools and equipment and operate them in a safe and proper manner.
• Assist in the preventive, corrective, and emergency work on a wide variety of structures and systems.
• Maintain records as needed to provide documentation of all work performed.
• Close all buildings each day, determining before leaving that all doors and windows are secure and that all lights (except safety lights) are turned off.
• Make requests of supplies to head custodian/maintenance.
• Assume responsibility for tasks other than those listed which may be assigned by a supervisor.
