Inventory Control Clerk

Overview The Inventory Control Clerk is a key operational role responsible for safeguarding inventory accuracy and integrity within UNIS’s warehouse and logistics operations in Roanoke, TX. Working on a full-time, Monday-Friday, 3:30 p.m.-12:00 a.m. shift, this position ensures that every unit of customer inventory is correctly received, stored, tracked, and shipped, enabling reliable service levels and accurate financial reporting. By performing cycle counts, audits, and reconciliations, and by using warehouse management systems (WMS), RF scanners, and AI-enabled tools, the Inventory Control Clerk links front-line warehouse activity with data-driven supply chain decision-making. The role collaborates closely with Receiving, Shipping, Operations, and customer-facing teams, supporting an audit-ready environment and contributing directly to on-time, error-free logistics execution and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities

1. Maintain inventory accuracy through structured cycle counts and audits: Plan and execute daily/weekly cycle counts, verify on-hand quantities against WMS records, document findings, and complete reconciliations to sustain high inventory accuracy rates and audit readiness.
2. Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies: Use WMS, RF scanners, and available reporting or AI-enabled tools to identify root causes of inventory variances, perform thorough investigations, document corrective actions, and ensure adjustments are properly authorized and recorded.
3. Execute inventory adjustments and documentation control: Process inventory moves, transfers, and adjustments in the WMS in alignment with internal controls; maintain clear, organized digital and physical records to support internal and customer audits and compliance requirements.
4. Partner with cross-functional warehouse teams: Collaborate with Receiving, Shipping, and Operations to validate counts, resolve issues at the dock or storage locations, prevent recurring errors, and communicate inventory risks or process gaps that may impact customer orders or service levels.
5. Support physical inventories, customer audits, and reporting: Assist in planning and conducting full physical inventories and customer audits, prepare and distribute inventory-related reports, highlight trends or anomalies, and contribute ideas to improve inventory processes, accuracy, and system usage.

1. Education: High School Diploma or GED required, demonstrating basic proficiency in reading, writing, and numerical reasoning necessary for accurate inventory counting and data entry.
2. Experience: Prior experience in logistics, supply chain, or warehouse operations with direct exposure to inventory handling, stock checks, or basic inventory control activities.
3. Systems and tools: Hands-on experience using warehouse management systems (WMS) and handheld RF scanners to perform inventory transactions, look up stock, and record movements in real time.
4. Technical proficiency: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and Outlook) for maintaining spreadsheets, reviewing reports, and communicating with internal stakeholders.
5. Behavioral readiness: Demonstrated attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving ability, with a track record of following standard operating procedures and maintaining accuracy under time pressure.
6. Communication and teamwork: Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with supervisors, peers, and cross-functional teams, and to elevate issues or inconsistencies promptly.

1. Advanced inventory control experience: Previous experience in a dedicated inventory control, cycle counting, or stock audit role within a warehouse, distribution center, or 3PL environment.
2. Industry exposure: Familiarity with technology-driven logistics operations, including working within environments that utilize AI-enabled tools, advanced analytics, or highly automated systems for inventory and transportation management.
3. Process and quality mindset: Experience supporting or implementing process improvements (e.g., reducing inventory variances, improving location accuracy, enhancing counting methods) and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives such as lean, 5S, or similar frameworks.
4. Customer-facing exposure: Experience interacting with customers, auditors, or external stakeholders regarding inventory status, discrepancies, or audit findings in a professional and service-oriented manner.
5. Tenure in high-volume operations: Background in high-volume, fast-paced warehouses where precision, speed, and adherence to SLAs are critical to business performance and customer satisfaction.
