Registered Nurse - 7 Harmony Acute Care/Post-Surgical

$42.5 - $62 per hour

Description POSITION SUMMARY The Registered Nurse is a member of the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with the Physician. The RN utilizes the nursing care process consistent with their license and/or certification, including the initiation of culturally competent continuum of care in inpatient, outpatient and community settings. The RN is responsible for overseeing coordination of the interdisciplinary plan of care and ensuring consistency with the medical treatment plan. The patient care process includes: Assessment – identifying, gathering and organizing subjective and objective data (physical, psychosocial, spiritual, cultural) from the patient/family/significant other. Planning – documenting problems and desired outcomes (goals) and creating a plan of care that guides the RN and the interdisciplinary team. Intervention – implementing specific orders consistent with the plan of care and medical treatment plan. Evaluation – assessing the effectiveness of interventions, determining outcomes, initiating reassessment or revisions as needed, and documenting required actions. Prioritization – problems are prioritized relative to biophysical, psychological, environmental, self‑care, educational and social status. Goal setting – goals align with identified problems to provide direction for patient care and health promotion. Education – tailored to the problem and goals, promoting patient empowerment. Employee may be required to perform Limited Laboratory Services, including patient identification, specimen collection preparation, sample processing, quality control testing, instrument maintenance, monitoring, recording, reporting results, and maintaining competency/certification. Licensed and registered care providers document the assessment, plan, intervention and evaluation within their scope of practice. All patient care activities comply with standards, procedural guidelines, and organizational policy. The RN supports performance‑improvement initiatives, leads other patient‑care team members, and participates in continuous professional development. Emergency Room City 2 years medical/surgical and/or emergency‑room experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer. ATCN or TNCC required within 24 months of hire or transfer. Minimum 8 contact hours of education per year in basic trauma assessment, intervention and stabilization. Minimum 8 contact hours per year in basic stroke assessment, intervention and NIHSS (completed by 6 months, continuously maintained). PALS or ENPC attained within 12 months of hire or transfer. Current staff must obtain CPI by 6/30/24; new hires or transfers must obtain CPI within 6 months and maintain thereafter. Wound‑care and HBO Training through Healogics required within 1 year from hire or transfer. ACLS required within 6 months from hire or transfer. Trauma Bay Trauma experience required; 2 years preferred. ACLS, PALS & ATCN at time of hire. Harmony Trauma/ICU 2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; critical‑care experience preferred. ACLS required at time of hire. ATCN required within 3 years from hire or transfer. Intensive Care Unit (ICU)/(CTICU) 2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; critical‑care experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months from hire or transfer. CCRN preferred. Cardiovascular ICU (CVU) 2 years critical‑care and cardiovascular ICU experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months from hire or transfer. CCRN preferred. Heart and Vascular Unit (HVU) 2 years telemetry experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months from hire or transfer. Harbor (PCU) 2 years telemetry experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months from hire or transfer. Pines/3 Central Medical/surgical experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months from hire or transfer. South/ Meadow Medical/surgical experience preferred. ACLS required within 1 year from hire or transfer. Operating Room Medical/surgical and operating‑room experience preferred. Effective 1/1/25—new OR members must scrub or learn to scrub within six months. ACLS required by 12/31/24 for all RNs in the City OR. CNOR preferred. PACU/Same Day Surgery/Recovery Room Critical‑care or PACU experience required. ACLS required at time of hire or transfer. PALS required within 6 months from hire or transfer. Intervention Radiology 2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; interventional and critical‑care experience preferred. ACLS at time of hire or transfer. PALS required within 1 year from hire or transfer. Cath Lab Critical‑care, emergency‑room, cath‑lab or telemetry experience preferred. ACLS at time of hire or transfer. Endoscopy 2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; endoscopy, telemetry and critical‑care experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months from hire or transfer. PALS, CCRN and CGRN preferred. Radiation Oncology (cancer center institute) experience preferred. OCN preferred. Medical Oncology Infusion Services Oncology experience preferred. ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Competency Provider required within 6 months from hire or transfer. OCN preferred. Structural Heart 2 years experience in cardiology. Skills include phlebotomy, EKG, IV insertion. ACLS required at time of hire or transfer. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION / LICENSE Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Nurses hired without BSN must be enrolled in a BSN program within 1 year and complete within 3 years. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in New Jersey or a current multi‑state license required. BLS required. Valid NJ driver’s license required for Adult and Child Partial Programs. Experience: Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; skill required within 30‑60 days from hire. PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS Demonstrates ability to perform department‑specific competencies listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool. WORK ENVIRONMENT Potential exposure to hospital hazards, blood‑borne pathogens, infectious disease, hazardous substances, and injury. Considerable reaching, stooping, kneeling and crouching. Extensive standing and walking, including stairs. Lifting ~25‑50 lbs frequently. Lifting ~50‑100 lbs with assistance occasionally. Pushing and pulling heavy equipment. Some departments require color discrimination. Essential functions are listed on the department‑specific Assessment and Evaluation Tool. WORK ENVIRONMENT IN ELECTROPHYSIOLOGY LAB & PROCEDURAL AREAS Potential exposure to hazards, blood‑borne pathogens, infectious disease, hazardous substances, latex, radiation, and injury. Considerable reaching, stooping, kneeling and crouching. Extensive standing (wearing lead) and walking, including stairs. Lifting ~25‑50 lbs frequently. Lifting ~50‑100 lbs with assistance occasionally. Pushing and pulling heavy equipment. Transporting patients on stretchers unassisted. Manual dexterity to hand off instruments. Manipulating in small work areas congested with cords, foot pedals and various equipment consoles. Moving patients from beds/stretchers to procedure tables and from procedure tables to stretchers or beds. Some departments require color discrimination. Essential functions are listed on the department‑specific Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
