Senior Safety Engineer

DescriptionSAIC seeks a highly experienced and energetic Safety Engineer on the Ground-Based Radar (GBR) Maintenance and Sustainment Services (GMASS) contract to ensure contractual safety requirements are conducted IAW AFOSH and OSHA standards. Safety support will include, but is not limited to supporting design reviews, program increment planning, and other tasks deemed necessary by the Program Manager, Chief Engineer, and project leads. This position is located on-site in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Duties include:Implement Systems Safety analysis activities.Identify and mitigate all potential and existing hazards.Collaborate with Engineering Design Teams while learning subsystems and their interactions.Ask tough questions, challenge conventional thinking, and bring potential hazards forward.Assess Engineering documents, data, and artifacts, while working with Engineering Teams to determine the safest and most cost-effective solutions to actual and potential hazards.Gather data from field, factory, and engineering, calculating probability and severity of possible outcome and work with Design teams to influence a safer more robust system.Collaborate with all levels of Engineering and Program Management and Customers.QualificationsBachelor’s Degree with 5+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.5 years safety experience national security, no-fail mission systems.Experience with a broad range of system types: custom developed HW/SW, COTS/GOTS HW/SW, and specialty engineering of exotic material/limited supply items.Desired:Experience in Systems Safety and/or Systems Engineering disciplines.Experience in aviation safety systems engineering.Experience with Mil Standard 882-E.Job Field: Engineering and SciencesTravel: No
