What You'll Do as a Driver License Examiner 1: Determine legality to issue licenses, administer & score written, oral, interpreter, video, vision, & special Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) ordered examinations for all types of licenses & conduct vehicle inspection, & driving skills & maneuverability examinations for all types of licenses, except for commercial driver license: Conducts examination of applicants for vehicle operator's license by means of physically accompanying applicant in vehicle during road testing over a prescribed course; Instructs applicant in maneuvers to be performed during testing; Administers driving tests to applicants for class D license, motorcycle license, moped license, restricted license & other exams as required by the BMV; Evaluates & grades applicant's ability to drive; Additional Information: Training and Development Required to remain in the classification after employment: Must maintain valid Ohio Class 'D' Driver License. Successful completion of agency driving training course required before end of probationary period. Unusual Working Conditions: Required to ride in automobiles with inexperienced drivers; exposed to dust, dirt & exhaust fumes; exposed to weather conditions when working outside; required to travel from one examination facility to another as assigned; must provide own transportation; may be required to work flexible hours. Background Check Information: A BCI and FBI fingerprint check, a background check, including a polygraph examination, may be required on all selected applicants. A comparative analysis and/or drug-test may be a requirement of the hiring process.
