Marching Band Assistant*

The Marching Band Assistant Director is responsible for supporting the Director of the marching band in planning, coordinating, and executing all aspects of the marching band program. The Assistant Director will work closely with the Director to ensure the success of the band both on and off the field, and will help to create a positive and inclusive environment that fosters musical and personal growth for all members.

Compensation: Level 4

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist the Director in all aspects of planning and executing the marching band program, including rehearsals, performances, competitions, and travel.
• Teach and rehearse music and marching techniques with individual sections of the band as assigned by the Director.
• Assist with creating and implementing the marching drill and field formations.
• Collaborate with the Director to plan and execute a comprehensive schedule of rehearsals and performances throughout the year.
• Work with the Director to select music and create arrangements for the marching band program.
• Assist with organizing logistics for travel, including transportation, lodging, and meals.
• Help to create a positive and inclusive environment that supports the growth and development of all band members.
• Assist with managing the band's budget and fundraising activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
• Ensure the safety of students and staff.
• Carry out and enforce Board Policy.
• Serve as a role model for students.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as designed by the superintendent or building administrators.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Appropriate Degree
• Appropriate State of Ohio certification/license/Permit (if required)
• Acceptable BCII report and FBI report
• Alternative to the above qualifications as the Superintendent or Board of Education may find appropriate

• Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue
• Occasional interaction among unruly children
• Occasional operation of a vehicle in inclement weather conditions, i.e., being prepared to come to work on all work days except calamity days
• Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull various items up to a maximum of 40 pounds and 100 pounds on wheels
• Frequent repetitive hand motion, e.g., computer keyboard, typing, calculator, writing
• Regular requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, climb, kneel, and stoop
• Occasional evening, weekend and summer work
