Storage Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Storage Engineer to manage and support enterprise storage, SAN virtualization, and backup environments. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise with NetApp ONTAP, SAN Volume Controller (SVC), and Veritas NetBackup, along with experience supporting mission-critical production environments. This role will be responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, scalability, and protection of enterprise data infrastructure

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer, maintain, and support enterprise storage environments using NetApp ONTAP.
• Provision, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot storage systems and related infrastructure.
• Perform storage capacity planning, forecasting, utilization analysis, and optimization.
• Implement storage performance tuning and industry best practices.
• Support storage migrations, upgrades, technology refreshes, and lifecycle management initiatives.
• Ensure high availability and reliability of storage services across production environments.
• Administer and support SAN Volume Controller (SVC) environments.
• Configure and maintain SAN fabrics, storage virtualization, replication, and data solutions.
• Troubleshoot SAN connectivity, performance bottlenecks, zoning, and storage allocation issues.
• Manage Fibre Channel and iSCSI storage networking environments.
• Collaborate with server, database, virtualization, and infrastructure teams to support application requirements.
• Manage enterprise backup and recovery operations using Veritas NetBackup.
• Configure and maintain backup policies, schedules, retention management, and recovery procedures.
• Monitor backup jobs, troubleshoot failures, and provide operational reporting.
• Perform backup recovery testing and support disaster recovery validation exercises.
• Ensure backup environments meet security, compliance, audit, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide L2 and L3 support for storage, SAN, and backup-related incidents.
• Participate in on-call rotations and support critical production environments.
• Develop and maintain operational documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and architecture diagrams.
• Partner with cybersecurity, cloud, infrastructure, and application teams to support business initiatives and strategic projects.
• Drive continuous improvement through automation, monitoring, and operational best practices.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise storage and backup administration.
• Strong experience with: NetApp ONTAP, SAN Volume Controller (SVC), Veritas NetBackup.
• Experience with SAN technologies, storage virtualization, replication, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance optimization skills.
• Experience supporting large-scale, mission-critical production environments.
• Solid understanding of: Fibre Channel (FC), iSCSI, Multipathing technologies, storage networking concepts.
• Experience supporting Linux and Windows server environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with cloud storage platforms, including AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Knowledge of storage automation and scripting using PowerShell, Python, or Ansible.
• Experience with business continuity, disaster recovery planning, and data replication technologies.
• Industry certifications related to NetApp, Storage, Veritas, cloud platforms, or infrastructure technologies.
• Experience working in highly regulated enterprise environments.

Location: Riverwoods, IL – Onsite role

Salary and Other Compensation: The annual salary for this position is between $90,000– 120,000 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
